Why should my DPI be set to smaller - 100%?  How can I change DPI font settings?

Eaglesoft - Windows DPI Settings
Applies to: Windows XP and newer

The DPI setting on your computer may affect what you can/cannot see in certain screens. Information may appear missing if the DPI is set too large. 

Answer:

The attached screenshots below show the DPI setting at small and medium in the Eaglesoft software:

Change the DPI font settings for Windows Vista:
  • Right-click on any blank part of the Windows desktop.
  • Select Personalize.
  • Select Adjust Font Size (DPI).
  • Set the default scale to 96 dpi.

Change the DPI font settings for Windows XP
  • Go to Start | Control Panel. Double-click Display icon (can also right-click on desktop and select Properties).
  • Select Settings.
  • Select Advanced.
  • Under the General tab, find the DPI setting.  It can be changed by using the drop-down.

Change the DPI font settings for Windows 7
  • Go to Start | Control Panel | Display. Choose a size you want for DPI size (recommend Smaller - 100%).
  • A second way to locate: Right-click on blank area of Windows desktop. Select Personalize | Display. Choose a size you want for DPI size (recommend Smaller - 100%).
  • A third way to locate: Right-click on blank area of Windows desktop. Select Screen Resolution | Make text and other items larger or smaller link. Choose a size you want for DPI size (recommend Smaller - 100%).

Change the DPI font settings for Windows 8/8.1
  • Open the charms by pointing to the upper-right or lower-right corner with the mouse to see the charms (Windows Logo keyboard button + C). Select Control Panel | Display. Choose a size you want for DPI size (recommend Smaller - 100%).

    Or
  • Enter  into Desktop Mode.
  • Go to Start | Control Panel | Display. Choose a size you want for DPI size (recommended Smaller - 100%).
  • A second way to locate: Right-click on blank area of Windows desktop. Select Personalize | Display. Choose a size you want for DPI size (recommend Smaller - 100%).
  • A third way to locate: Right-click on blank area of Windows desktop. Select Screen Resolution | Make text and other items larger or smaller link. Choose a size you want for DPI size (recommend Smaller - 100%).
  • Open the charms by pointing to the upper-right or lower-right corner with the mouse to see the charms (Windows Logo keyboard button + C). Select Control Panel | Display. Choose a size you want for DPI size (recommend Smaller - 100%).

    NOTE: If you are on Windows 8.1, you will need to check the box, then you will get the screen where you can adjust the DPI settings (see below):

Change the DPI font settings for Windows 10

Change DPI in Settings App:
  • Open Settings | System icon | Display. Select DPI percentage under Change the size of text, apps, and other items. Sign out now to fully apply.
Change DPI in Control Panel (NOTE: these settings have been removed from Control Panel as of Windows 10 version 1703):
  • Open Control Panel | Display | Change size of items
  • Set a custom scaling level link
  • Drag the ruler left or right to the scaling percentage or from drop-down menu
  • Click OK, Apply and Sign out now.
